Responsibilities of BEI
The Bureau of Equity & Inclusion is the central affirmative action office for Wisconsin State
Government.
Among the many responsibilities of BEI, developing
policies and procedures governing the state’s Equal Employment
Opportunities (EEO) and Affirmative Action (AA) program are essential. BEI recommends new or revised legislation in support of a viable state EEO/AA program and also plays a role in the establishment of standards for agency EEO/AA plans.
The BEI team has the responsibility of reviewing,
approving and monitoring state agency EEO/AA programs while providing
technical assistance to agencies in developing innovative personnel
programs to increase the effectiveness of the state’s EEO/AA programs. Another function of BEI is to analyze state
workforce data for use in developing EEO/AA reports and recommendations under s.230.04(9) and (9m) and s.230.46, Wis. Stats.
