Insurance and Disability Plans

An overview of the available insurance and disability plans can be found under each header below.​

The State Group Health Insurance program allows employees to choose from several health plans that include comprehensive medical and prescription drug coverage. Each health plan offers a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) option. Uniform Dental benefits may be added onto your health insurance for a minimal cost. If you do not wish to enroll in health insurance, you may be eligible to receive an Opt-Out Stipend.

State Group Life Insurance provides group term life insurance coverage up to 5x your annual WRS earnings in the event of death. You may also include coverage for your spouse and dependents.

Income Continuation Insurance (ICI) covers both short and long-term disabilities. ICI provides income replacement up to 75% of your gross salary if you are unable to work due to illness or disability. You must enroll if you want coverage.

Dental and vision insurance plans are available. The vision and supplemental dental plans provide coverage beyond what is available through State Group Health Insurance. A preventive dental plan is also available to those not covered by State Group Health Insurance.

The Securian​ Accident Plan provides a lump sum cash payment directly to you for covered injuries, emergency and hospital care, surgery and follow-up care. It also includes accidental death and dismemberment coverage, identity theft services, and travel assistance.

Pre-Tax Savings program, also referred to as Flexible Spending Account (FSA), allows you to set aside money on a pre-tax basis to pay for eligible expenses such as medical, dental, vision, day care, parking and transit.
